My name is Salwa Al Azzouni, an Artist and an Arabic Calligrapher based in Toronto, Canada. My passion is creating personalized traditional and digital calligraphy designs with a focus on the “Diwani” script.

 

Born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, I was always mesmerized by the historical architectural buildings while walking through Albalad “Old downtown Jeddah” and Mosques with Islamic geometric designs, patterns, tazheeb and Arabic Calligraphy written on walls and ceilings. Driven by my passion of art since childhood and the desire to revive the beauty of Arabic language to personalized meaningful art and jewelry pieces. I started my journey by creating my first pieces for family and friends. Gradually, and with continuous practice and honing of my skills, I established my portfolio of artwork.
